Overview
This course is designed to bridge the gap
between theory and practice by developing an understanding of the global
economic environment in which businesses operate.
Students will be exposed to core business principles, concepts and applications
across a comprehensive spectrum of disciplines while developing an in-depth
appreciation of economic principles and its applications in real-world situations
and its influence in the operations of corporations and companies.
The complementary blend of knowledge and skills gained during the study of this
course will enable graduates to add value to any organisation and perform
confidently in an increasingly globalised and digitised business environment.
Learning Outcomes
The course is designed to integrate a deep understanding of the subject matter
with the development of key skills and competencies needed to adapt to a rapidly
changing, dynamic, and competitive global marketplace. Upon completion,
students will be able to:
► Apply economic reasoning to the analysis of selected contemporary
economic problems.
► Understand core concepts, practices and techniques in economics and gain
analytical, quantitative, computing, presentation and other essential
transferable skills.
► Analyse the efficiency and equity implications of government interference
in markets.
► Recognise and identify situations leading to market and government
failures.
► Evaluate the intent and outcomes of government stabilisation policies
designed to correct macroeconomic problems.
► Use economic problem-solving skills to discuss opportunities and
challenges in an increasingly globalised world economy.
